NEWSLETTER No. 4 - May 2, 2007

[1] DEADLINE EXTENSION

In response to many requests of an extension of the date for the submission of the full papers, we have postponed the deadline to the last minute of May 7 (Greenwich Mean Time) .

Please note, however, that, since the OpenConf system operates automatically, sending all the the papers out to the reviewers, we cannot take into account any exceptions . In other words, once the system sends the papers out to the reviewers, there is no way we can start it again to include additional arrivals. So, and much to our regret, any papers finished after that date can not be accepted .

[2] NO EMAILED PAPERS CAN BE ACCEPTED

Please do not send any papers by mail , since there is no way we can feed them into the system. The system only accepts papers uploaded by their legitimate authors, with the corresponding passwords. For security reasons, it does not accept any other forms of submission. This means that not even the Program Committee can access the private space the system has reserved for each paper.

[3] REFERENCES

We must apologize to all the authors for our contradictions in the recommendations regarding the format for the references. We have adopted the IEEE template used in the last editions of ICEE. We are not familiar, however, with the IEEE referencing system, so we ended up mixing things up. We suggest that the authors with doubts regarding the formats for the references refer to the genuine IEEE recommendations, available at http://www.ieee.org/pubs/transactions/auinfo03.pdf

[4] ANONYMITY

Some authors seem to be afraid that the system may not recognize their authorship, since they are not providing their names in the papers. You should not worry about that. The OpenConf system has created a slot for each paper, with the author information. So, when you upload a paper, the paper is automatically sent to your private slot.

[5] UPLOADS

If you want to make any corrections in your paper, you can upload it again . The system always keeps the last version you have uploaded (and deletes the previous one). So, if you change your mind about any detail of the paper, you may comfortably upload it again, provided you do it before the deadline.

Do not forget that you can, at any moment, read the last version you have uploaded by simply going to http://icee2007.dei.uc.pt/openconf/openconf.php and selecting " View Paper ".

Best wishes for your submission. We look forward to meeting you in Coimbra , in September. In the meantime, we'll keep in touch.

Yours sincerely
Antonio Dias de Figueiredo
Program Committee Chair
